News from the front

October 31st, 2008 | Category: Introspective, PD, Work

Last week I got into this crazy ridiculous foot pursuit. me and my partner were rollin down the street and we see this guy riding one of those “Razor” type scooters that had the little two stroke engine attached to it. We roll up next to him just to tell him to slow down, maybe get off, I dunno..he wasnt wearing a helmet. He had two flashlights attahed to he front handlebars acting like headlights and a blinking red light attached to his leather jacket. We pull up and the guy turns, looks at us, eyes wide like saucers, jumps off, dumps the scooter and starts running the opposite way. The whole time yelling (I found out later he was just screaming “No no no no no no no!!!”) and flailing his arms! I jump out of the car and start running after him. It was like watching Benny Hill. The guy was running in circles, with me trying to catch him. My partner is running after both of us, doing his radio work and broadcasting what was up. The guy then runs across the street, and me in my fervor to catch him, plus the tunnel vision, just ran out with him without even looking to see if there was any oncoming traffic.

The guy then reaches the other side of the street, still yelling “nonononononono” the whole time. He does this crazy cartoon thing where he grabbed onto a telephone pole, swung himself around 360 degrees, and then kept running. The whole time I’m wondering what the hell this guy is running for, as he dumped something while we were running on the first side of the street earlier on…now this guy was no behemoth, but he was acting crazy, was about 6′ tall (which I know, me bein hella short means he’s much taller than me) so I pull out my baton, and finally catch up to him as he tries to run across the street again. I whapped him once and he dropped like a bag of rocks. I fell on top of him, my baton flying into the middle of the street, and locked him up till my partner could get there to help me cuff him. We got the cuffs on him, and pulled him up, and got him against a wall and did the regular customary search for weapons/drugs/contraband etc. Bunch of other units get there and it’s now all code 4.

I go back to see what he dumped, and it was a half eaten burrito. Beans and rice were all over the place. Wow. I ask him why he’s running from us and he tells me that he thought it was illegal to ride one of those motorized scooters. Plus he was on probation. He could have just taken his yelling, but he had to run. So, he ends up getting booked for some charges which became evident later on in the investigation, including riding without a helmet, riding without a license, resisting, and a few others. It was fun. Looking back, I should have looked for traffic before running out after him. But I was so focused, gotta control that for next time.

Onto other news…me and the Ramune are now officially engaged as of 1300 hours on 10-20-08. Tentative date in september. Hooray!!

Money is tight right now as I’ve got a bunch of things to pay for. My red light camera ticket, traffic school, replacing the ignition and catalytic converter for my truck after it got stolen, property taxes, xmas is coming, and there is really no overtime available for me in my current status. Sigh….tight tight tight.

Happy Halloween to y’all, be safe. I know I’ll be trying to stay that way.

I’m watching Rocky II, YO ADRIAANNNN!!!!!!!

Ya gotta kinda feel sorry for a character like him at the point he falls to in the beginning of the movie. He had it all, then it just *POOF* vanishes.

Ramune is in Hawaii right now with her mom. That is her birthday present to her. She already got me a Honolulu PD shirt, trying to see if she can get some patches. YO RAMUNEEEEEE!!!

On other things, we were looking for a serious asshole the other day. He threatened the mother of his child with death, her sister and the rest of the family and also to kidnap their child. Then he tried to do it. After having previous DV issues, denying that the kid was even his, beating both of them, following mom around and stalking her, this guy now thinks he can get away…well, he’ll find that difficult to accomplish after we find him and lock him up. Rat.

I started riding my bicycle again through Golden Gate Park. It’s a good ride…and helps out with the cardio that I have been lacking. I need to find myself a workout partner. That should do the trick.

Station Duty

July 28th, 2008 | Category: Work

3 days in a row. That is all folks. Station….Duty.

At least I started up a workout routine again…time to lose those 5 or so pounds I’ve put on since I swapped stations.

Finished?

June 08th, 2008 | Category: Fun Stuff, PD, Work

My last day of evaluation was yesterday. I ended it with 2 blue cards and an 11 page report. Not too shabby I would say. It was convoluted, it was long and arduous. Took me 3 hours to type it all up.

Now, I just have to wait for my FTO to finish up my last evaluation and my end of phase. THEN, and ONLY then, will I get my final blessing from the FTO Office. Oh snap.

It’s a bummer to have stuff still hanging over your head when you see the finish line and feel like you have already crossed through it.

I’ll give you the heads up when I find out. As it is, I’m still stoked.

I also celebrated my 35th birthday on wednesday. Got good BBQ, wine, 16 year old Bushmills, friends and some missing spots in time from where I can’t remember a thing. Sounds like I had a good time.

And as I finish this post up I have just been informed that I will be going to swings for now, until they figure out where I am gonna be transferred to. Sweeeet.

Frag out!!

April 07th, 2008 | Category: Fun Stuff, Geek stuff, Pics, Work

Ok ok, so I’ve been playing Call Of Duty 4 alot lately…but I was actually referring to the fact that the pin has finally come out of my finger. Pis to follow. Interesting note, I had NO idea that the oin was actually in my bone this whole time!! The doc had drilled a hole through the bone-s…man, what a trip. The feeling of him puling the wire out was really frackin gross, and then he pulled the pin out with this odd twisting motion. Ewwwww

I finished COD4 yesterday on easy mode..now to try out some of the other features available to me and go again with a harder mode. I <3 my XBox 360. I wanna get a used copy of Gears of War as I totally thought the game play looked great. In the mean time I can play online with my brother-in-law and his brother. A few more upgrades on my status and I can join his clan [CAB], u figure out what it stands for.

Now, to relax with some scotch and my copy of Empire Strikes Back.

Goin nuts

2 more days until I get my pin taken out!!!! I don’t know how long it’ll be until the doc lets me get back to work…then who knows who my FTO is gonna be? How well will I perform? You may have an idea of what it’s like to not know if the job is officially YOURS yet.

In other news, I got Ramune a Promise ring..here is a pic for ya… She has been getting so many “congratulations” on getting engaged, nobody believes her when she says it’s a promise ring…

It looks gorgeous on her.

Next payday time to get those vanities and sinks installed in the bathrooms. That should complete them for now…till I get around to repainting the downstairs one and installing new lighting.

Reporting for duty, SIR!

November 26th, 2007 | Category: PD, Work

I go back to work officially on the 5th of December. 1100 hours. Still at the same station. I am psyched up about it. Now to finish cramming in some good knowledge via the almighty FTO Manual. Wish me luck y’all.
